Surgery Scheduled: Now What?
We know you have a lot on your mind and likely a hefty checklist to take care of while planning for your surgery.
We want to make it as easy on you as possible. And that starts with knowing exactly what to expect.
Prior to your surgery, you’ll receive a call from our office to discuss things like your medical history, pre-operative instructions, and any tests or follow-up appointments that might be necessary after your procedure.
Today’s the Day
On the day of your surgery, you’ll be well taken care of; before, during, and after surgery.
We’ll get the paperwork out of the way first, so when you get here, we’ll greet you at the front desk and walk you through a basic breakdown of your benefits. We know what these are, because prior to your surgery, we’ve contacted your provider so we’ll bill them the way they require and there won’t be any surprises for you with regards to deductibles or fees.
From there, your nurse will take you back to pre-op and get you ready for surgery. Yes, you’ll get to wear one of those famously adorable blue gowns! We’ll do things like take your blood pressure and pulse. An IV will get started and we’ll answer any questions you still have lingering. Once you’re settled, your family members, or whoever is driving you home afterward, will be allowed to join you in the pre-op area.
You’ll get a visit from your surgeon as well as the anesthesiologist, so be sure to let them know how you’re feeling and ask them any questions you have.
Once you are taken into surgery, your family will be escorted to a waiting area where we will keep them updated of the surgery’s progress.
Feeling Better Already
After the surgery is complete, you’ll go to our post-op or PACU area for recovery. As the anesthesia wears off, you’ll be asked to sit up and maybe take a few sips of water. We have crackers and popsicles, too, so take advantage!
When the fuzziness wears off enough for you to move around and get dressed, you’ll be on your way in no time. We’ll send you home with clear instructions about how to recuperate, what medicines you’ll need, and when to call the doctor. We’ll help you to the car to make sure all is well. Expect a call from one of our nurses the following day just to check in on you.
From the moment your surgery is scheduled, you become our priority. From the initial intake phone call, to the hands-on care the day of your surgery, to our follow-up once you’re home, you’re in good, trust-worthy, caring hands at Surgi+Care.
